John's background as a Real Estate Lawyer:

John has performed more than 6,000 real estate closings for properties located in more than 60 North Carolina counties totaling approximately one billion dollars in value.  These have included refinances, purchases (new construction and resales), construction loans and home equity lines involving hundreds of different lenders, and "like-kind" (also known as § 1031) property exchanges.  Some transactions have been for commercial properties, but most have been residential — houses, townhomes and condominiums.  John has performed closings for hundreds of lenders and is an approved attorney for all major title insurance companies.

Whenever possible, John will locate a prior title insurance policy so as to get a reissue rate on the new policy from the title insurance company.  These savings are passed directly to the client.  In order to maintain quality control, further limit costs and keep his fees at essentially the same level where they have remained for years, John operates with minimal staffing.  He conducts his own title searches and closings, prepares his own loan packages and settlement statements, and handles almost all other tasks associated with his real estate transactions.  To further reduce costs by eliminating storage space and minimizing paper usage, he has scanned all of his files from the last 18 years into pdf files.  This has allowed him to dispose of over a million pages of documents and permits him to retrieve file documents within seconds.  It also allows his clients to keep an electronic copy of their closing documents rather than having to deal with the clutter of more paperwork.
